Please pardon this aside into US politics, but down here in Texas, Sen. Ted Cruz (R) is losing a lot of ground to the inspiring and progressive challenger, Beto O’Rourke (D) who, by golly, might just take his seat. Great article on this at Politico.

I fondly remember the 1970s TV series in which a Chinese monk with mad martial arts skills wanders the American Southwest where he is repeatedly attacked by Trump supporters*, each of whom he soundly thrashes while being outnumbered and outgunned. He always connected with the decent people he met, always taught kindness and respect for others, and turned to violence only as a last resort.
The only thing better than watching Kung Fu is watching Kung Fu with Jennifer Aniston.
* that is, they would be Trump supporters if they lived in current times.

Back during the Reagan era, I had told my sister (she voted for him) that I could see this country devolving into a banana republic if the wealthy keep treading this path of blind greed. She looked at me like I was insane. I wasn’t but, by golly, I’m getting there. I made this graphic back during the W. years, clearly harboring similar concerns. (The keyboard is there in case anyone wants to bang out a honky-tonk requiem.)
Everyone’s worried about stopping terrorism, well there’s a really easy way. Stop participating in it.
The thing about Noam Chomsky is that he doesn’t even have to be mostly right. If 10% of what this man says about how power operates in the world, and I mean any 10% (you get to pick), then most main stream assumptions about the US’s role in the world are cast into serious doubt.

A Republic, if you can keep it.
Eventually I will age and die. So be it.
That is my concession speech.
